DPT 512 - Physical Therapy Examination and Intervention Skills I Laboratory
This laboratory course is designed in conjunction with DPT 511 to enhance problem solving skills and provide integration of various patient examination, goal setting, and intervention techniques within the scope of physical therapy practice. An integration of case studies presented in lab and lecture will be used to further develop these skills. The student will achieve competency in the following patient care techniques: examination skills, exercise prescription, the prescription and performance of appropriate physical agents and manual therapy interventions, body mechanics assessment, communication and documentation skills, and patient safety. Manual muscle testing and goniometric measurement of joint range of motion will be incorporated into laboratory exercises.
Prerequisite(s): DPT 500 and DPT 501. Corequisite(s): DPT 511.
