ECT 472 - Network Configuration & Management for Engineering Technology
The course covers the basics concepts of TCP/IP computer networks including the protocol suite. Topics include: layered networks, frame/packet forwarding, and error detection. IP addressing, subnet masking, and configuration scripting of hardware for local area networks containing switches and routers is emphasized. Network security is addressed in terms of the threat environment, planning/policy initiatives, and incidence response. A strong focus is placed on practical skills and hands-on hardware experience in the laboratory. Three lecture hours, three lab hours.
Prerequisite(s): ECT 122 (minimum grade of C-).
